Principals Weekly Letter

Dear Cavalier Family,
On November 16th, we recognize the Feast of the Blessed Brother Martyrs of Almeria. I would like to start this letter with a Prayer for Parents on this Feast Day.

The Saintly Brother Martyrs of Almería stayed true to the values of faith in God through their service to the children entrusted to their care. May we too keep focused on our responsibilities as parents to love our children and direct them toward lives of faith and service. May we seek and find support from our family and extended communities, especially as we balance the raising of children, supporting a home, and deepening our understanding of how God continues to call us in our own development.  May we be encouraged in our efforts to be persons of loving sacrifice. Amen.

As we come to the close of this week, we recognize the “ups” and “downs” during this past week. We celebrated as our Volleyball team qualified for the quarter finals at the Pontchartrain Center. Many faculty, staff, students, parents and friends supported the team and cheered them on. When the result was a loss, it turned to comfort and support for our team and coaches. Hopefully the volleyball team knows that our De La Salle family is very proud of them and thanks them for an incredible season. Some of these girls have been together as a team for the last four or five years and that bond can never be destroyed. May they hold on to the good times and good memories created during those years!

On Friday many of our DLS family boarded the buses to Farmerville for a six hour ride to support our Cavalier football team as they competed in the play-offs. All those present realized that it just did not matter if we won or lost because the support and love from the De La Salle family already provided such a Huge Win. After singing the Alma Mater at the end of the game, the fans just poured onto the field to hug and provide support and love for our football players. It was a moment that will be embedded in my mind forever! It makes me so proud to be a part of such an incredible De La Salle family.

Today our Cross Country team heads to the State Meet and we wish them success as well. They placed second in District and five of our players were named All District for placing in the top ten.

Here are a few reminders for the week ahead. …This is the last full week prior to the Thanksgiving holidays. The raffle tickets are due this Thursday for students to qualify for the holidays on Monday and Tuesday. Those who sell 40 tickets qualify for a holiday on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Those who sell 80 tickets have a holiday on the Monday and Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving. Thanks to the parents for their cooperation with selling the raffle tickets.

As St. John Baptist De La Salle stated in Meditation 193.2, “Inspire and lead others by encouraging them.”  After this past week it was evident that our De La Salle family provided the encouragement and support that the football and volleyball players deserved and that in itself was a blessing to witness!
