Melissa Grubbs Appointed New Varsity Volleyball Coach of De La Salle High School

Melissa-GrubbsNew Orleans, LA, March 22, 2016 –De La Salle High School has announced the hiring of Ms. Melissa Grubbs as the Varsity Volleyball Coach for the 2016-2017 school year.

Coach Grubbs is a well-known New Orleans Volleyball Coach. Her appointment to De La Salle will follow 11-years as Junior Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Ursuline Academy.  Coach Grubbs also has 17 years of coaching experience with Blue Crab Volleyball Club. As a coach, Grubbs’ teams have made numerous playoff appearances and have won three state championships in the LHSAA Division III. Athletic Director, Tony Bonura ’86, states, “we are excited that Melissa is joining our school.  We think her hire makes a statement about the seriousness of the direction we want to take, not only, De La Salle volleyball, but our entire girls’ athletic program.   Shes well respected in the volleyball community as a great teacher of the game and a terrific role model for girls.  Our girls are looking forward to having her as their coach.”

Melissa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and Human Performance from the University of New Orleans. She is the mother of two children. Ms. Grubbs is also part owner of Motiv8 Volleyball Club in Morgan City.
