DLS senior named National Merit Semi-finalist


De La Salle senior Marisa Thomassie has been named a National Merit Semi-finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  Marisa is one of only 16,000 semi-finalists of the 1.5 million students who took the test.

Marisa is an active Cavalier.  For three years so far, she has taken 1st in District Rally in English, and she is a member of the school chapters of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and MAΘ (Mu Alpha Theta) – the national mathematics honor society.  Additionally, she is a member of the school’s Green club.

This past summer, she earned the opportunity to study at the University College – Dublin in Ireland, one of four students chosen as finalists in an essay contest sponsored by the Irish Consul General and Irish Network New Orleans.

Following that, she interned locally with WGNO as an intern.

In August, she helped Mrs. Perry Rogers set up the DLS Writing Center to provide students with more help with their writing assignments beyond class time.
