De La Salle Parents’ Club is awarded Club of the Year by the CCSCC
The CCSCC Annual Luncheon took place yesterday. CCSCC stands for Council of Catholic School Cooperative Clubs, and the organization dates back in the metro area to the early 1940s. Yesterday’s luncheon was the organization’s 77th annual luncheon.
The parents’ organizations from Catholic elementary and secondary schools from all across the metro area do wonderful things for their respective schools every year. Our Parents’ Club has been and continues to be extremely hard-working, generous, and supportive of our mission at De La Salle. We are extremely grateful for their support.
Yesterday was a very special day for DLS’s Parents’ Club. Every year the highlight of the luncheon is the recognition of one school’s parents’ organization as the parents’ organization of the year. Our very own De La Salle’s Parents’ Club received this distinguished honor yesterday among the 50-60 Catholic schools that were represented by the 500-600 people in attendance, including Archbishop Aymond, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Dr. RaeNell Houston, parents and senior administrators of all area Catholic schools and the entire CCSCC Board—approximately 25 people strong.
This is such a well-deserved honor for our Parents’ Club which does so much for us in so many ways. Congratulations and thank you to the current president, Melanie Wesley, for her leadership and hard work, and to past president, Joe Ward, for all he did in that same vein. I also wish to thank Rhea Woods, president before Joe, for all she did as president. Also in attendance with us, yesterday to represent our Parents’ Club were treasurer, Kacy Wainwright, and Carlette Williams, co-chair of this year’s Parents’ Annual Giving drive. Congratulations and thank you to Kacy and Carlette. And thank you and congratulations to all of our parents who are active in De La Salle’s Parents’ Club. We are indeed grateful and fortunate to have the support of such a selfless group of individuals. I also wish to acknowledge and thank Ann Heslin who also attended yesterday’s luncheon. Ann is the administration’s liaison with our Parents’ Club.
Community is the life-blood of who we are as a Lasallian school, and our Parents’ Club is such a shining example of what it means to actively nurture our school community.
So at a time when there is so much positive going on at De La Salle, we are grateful for yet another reason to celebrate.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever.
Best and blessings,
Michael Giambelluca, President
