November 2017 Letter from the Principal
Letter from the Principal
Happy Halloween! We are deep into fall and more than two weeks into the second quarter. This month, we have our Open House, which takes place on Tuesday, November 7th, and our Thanksgiving Holidays follow shortly thereafter. Below are some of the many events happening this month at De La Salle.
Monday, November 6th: No School for Students, Archdiocesan Holiday and In-Service
Administration, faculty and staff are required to attend an off-campus, Archdiocesan in-service on this day. There will be no school for students.
Tuesday, November 7th: Open House and Early Dismissal, No School on November 8th
Tuesday, November 7th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, is our annual Open House, an event in which we invite all prospective students and their parents to campus to encounter our school, our students, and our faculty and staff. Dismissal will be at 11:30 am on this day, and the following day, Wednesday, November 8th, school will be closed. Many students will be involved this evening, and we expect the night to fully conclude at approximately 9:00 pm.
If you know of any interested prospective students or families, please encourage them to see De La Salle up close and personal on this wonderful evening!
Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive
We are in the midst of our annual Thanksgiving canned food drive, in which we donate all collected food to Second Harvest Food Bank. Please encourage your student to bring in canned goods to school. Thank you so much for your efforts to help the neediest in our community.
November 20th – 24th: School Closed, Thanksgiving Holidays
Friendly reminder that school will be closed the week of Monday, November 20th, through Friday, November 24th, for the Thanksgiving holidays. It is our sincere hope that students are able to spend this time connecting with family and reflecting on the many blessings in their lives. We will have a Thanksgiving prayer service on the Friday before the holidays begin.
Thursday, November 2nd: Football Game and Extracurricular Activities
A special reminder that our football game this week has been moved to Thursday night, the 2nd, at Pan American Stadium. We wish Coach Manale, his staff, and our student-athletes all the best in this contest and in the playoffs, as they seek to have back-to-back undefeated seasons for the first time in school history.
Please continue to support all of our extracurricular activities. Volleyball hosts a playoff game on Halloween night in our gym, and the Cross Country and Swim teams move into the concluding phases of their seasons. The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, the wrestling team, and the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams all open play later this month as well! Please come out and support the Cavs as they take to the field and the floor!
Daylight Savings Ends
Friendly reminder to set your clocks back one hour this weekend!
As always, we thank you for entrusting your children to us, and we look forward to a productive and exciting month. Take care, and may God bless you and yours.
