Dear Parents:
I sincerely hope that you and your family have enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable Mardi Gras break!  Our third quarter exams are now just two weeks away, and I have detailed many of the important events happening this month at De La Salle.

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MARCHING BAND
A special congratulations goes out to our Marching Band and Band Director, Mr. Duncan Pray, for taking 1st Place during the Rex Parade!  We appreciate all the work our Cheerleaders, Cavalettes, Band Members and moderators put in during parade season to represent our school so well on the route.  Congratulations to all for another successful Mardi Gras season.

 

JUNIOR RETREAT, FRIDAY, MARCH 9th
Our final junior retreat of the year will take place on our campus.  Students have been alerted as to their groups, and permission slips are located on the website and on edline.  Any questions should be directed to Mr. Tony Behan, our Campus Minister, at [email protected], or Mr. Justin Martineau, at [email protected].

 

STANDARDIZED TESTING DAY, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14th / EARLY DISMISSAL AT 12:00 PM
This day is a mandatory day of school for all 8th-11th graders.  Standardized testing will take place, and these tests are important to both the students and to De La Salle.  The day will start at the normal time (7:40 am), and dismissal will be at approximately 12:00 pm.

Seniors do not have school on this day.

The buses will pick up at 12:45 pm on this day.  Please direct any questions to Ms. Kate Massey at [email protected].

 

THIRD QUARTER EXAMS, MARCH 15th AND 16th/ EARLY DISMISSALS
Thursday, March 15th:             A and B Period Exams / 11:00 am dismissal
Friday, March 16th:                 C and D Period Exams / 11:00 am dismissal

 

SOPHOMORE PRAYER BREAKFAST, SATURDAY, MARCH 17th
Friendly reminder that ALL Sophomores are required to attend the Sophomore Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, March 17th, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.   This is a breakfast for every sophomore and his or her mother (or significant, adult female presence).  Dress is semi-formal for this event:  shirt and tie for males and dresses (or similar semi-formal attire) for females.  No tennis shoes or jeans are allowed.  Mr. Perrone will be present to ensure proper student dress.

 

JOSEPH’S ALTAR, MONDAY, MARCH 19th
Once again, De La Salle will host a St. Joseph’s Altar on Monday, March 19th.  The altar will open at 9:00 am, and some of our 8th grade students will perform the Tupa Tupa and say the Rosary at 11:30 am.  Donations needed include Italian cookies, cakes, flowers, vegetables, etc.  Anyone interested in helping set up the altar on Sunday, March 18th, should email Mrs. D’Antoni at [email protected].  Please stop by school any time during the 19th to visit the altar.

 

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR
Friendly reminder that all returning students must register for the 2018-19 school year on the following dates, according to the first letter of the student’s last name:

A – L last names:     Wednesday, March 21st 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm in cafeteria

M –Z last names:     Thursday, March 22nd                 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm in cafeteria

SCHOOL-WIDE DAY OF RECONCILIATION, FRIDAY, MARCH 23rd
Friday, March 23rd, we will be offering the sacrament of Reconciliation to our entire student body.  Under the direction of our Campus Minister, Mr. Tony Behan, we have arranged for eight priests to be on campus on the 23rd to hear confessions.  We are extremely excited to offer this sacrament to our entire school, and we ask that you please encourage your child to take advantage of this opportunity.

 

 

LA TROUPE DE LA SALLE’S HARVEY, THURSDAY, MARCH 22nd, 7:30 PM
Our drama club, La Troupe de La Salle, will put on its next play, Mary Chase’s Harvey, on Thursday, March 22nd, Saturday, March 24th, Monday, March 26th, and Tuesday, March 27th.  Start time for all performances is 7:30 pm in the theater (there is no Sunday performance).  Please come out and enjoy this wonderful production and support its talented cast and crew.

 

EASTER HOLIDAYS, SCHOOL CLOSED, THURSDAY, MARCH 29th – MONDAY, APRIL 2nd
Our Easter Holidays officially begin at the conclusion of our Lenten Prayer Service on Wednesday, March 28th.  We will dismiss at approximately 12:00 pm on this day, and school will be closed the following Thursday, Friday, and Monday, April 2nd.  We sincerely wish you and yours a peaceful and reflective Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

 

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Boys Basketball seeks to continue its playoff run, and baseball, softball, tennis, and track and field are now in full swing!  Please come out and support the Cavs as they take to the field and the floor!  We wish them the best of luck!
