Faculty Spotlight, Jennifer Blanchard

Jennifer Blanchard joined the De La Salle Science Department in the Fall of 2015. She teaches Biology and Earth Science. Jen also moderates the Ecology Club, and she is the Grow Dat liaison.
The Ecology Club has been working hard to build a school garden and to grow the school’s recycling program. This weekend at City Park’s Spring Garden Show, Ms. Blanchard and the Ecology Club will be selling plants that they grew in the classroom.
Ms. Blanchard works very hard to share her love for her content area with her students. She willingly shares her passion for the environment, for gardening, and for pottery with her students; and she is able to connect with students on an individual level, a talent that often motivates struggling students.” –Principal, Paul Kelly ’83
Jen attended the University of Southern Mississippi and earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology. She earned her Master of Science degree in Earth and Environmental Science at the University of New Orleans.
Outside of the classroom, Jen is also a mixed media artist with a focus on pottery and ceramics. She also spends time helping the Honey Island Conservation Program and the Pollinator Partnership with outreach, education, and conservation.
