I pay tuition. Why is it necessary for De La Salle to have the Parents Annual Giving Drive?
The tuition that is paid only covers about 75% of the total cost to operate the school in the academic year. There is approximately an $1800 gap between the actual cost per student to run De La Salle and the amount of tuition. Thus, every De La Salle student receives an $1.800 scholarship.
What are the PAG’s goals?
100% participation by De La Salle parents and families.
Why is returning the pledge card so important?
Institutions that provide monetary grants and/or matching funds are more likely to do so if we can show them that we have strongly supportive student body parents. The best way to do this is to show 100% participation in this drive. Grant-giving institutions and other financial institutions are a lot less likely to give or provide funds if the parents of the students actually enrolled at De La Salle aren’t willing to provide even the minimal support of returning the pledge card. Doing so, even without a contribution, is important. This year, you have even more incentive. Students whose parents return their signed pledge cards by October 22d will be given ½ day off. I can’t afford to give any right now, but down the road I might be able to do so. Do I have to write a check when I return the pledge card?
No, we are asking you to consider a PLEDGE. You may simply check off how much you are willing to PLEDGE and De La Salle will bill you monthly, quarterly, or other basis. Also, the pledges can be placed on your credit card and you can pay it out over your normal credit card payment arrangements.
I have lost the pledge card; how do I get a new one?
We can mail you a new one. However, you can also go online to the De La Salle website at . At the left hand side of the home page go to the menu item marked "Development" and then click on the "PGA donor form 2010-2011" to print out another copy of the pledge card. Can I make a pledge online?
Yes. Go to the website at and look at the upper right hand side of the home page. Under the photos is a block reading "Tickets, event registration, and online giving". Click on it and then click "Support De La Salle" and then make your pledge under the "Parents Annual Giving" drop down menu.
I understand that there is an incentive for students.
Yes. Each student whose parent turns in a signed pledge card by October 22d will receive a ½ day off from classes. More details to come.
I have more than one child at De La Salle; do I need to return more than one pledge card?
No. Return one pledge card and all of your children will be credited for the pledge card and all will be entered into the gift certificate drawing.
How can I find out if my employer participates with charitable matching funds?
Please check with your employer’s human resources area.
