January 9, 2012
Welcome to the start of our spring 2012 semester. De La Salle had a very successful fall 2011 semester and we are looking ahead to the success and excitement that awaits us during the spring term. We have left our challenges of the summer behind us and have moved forward as a Cavalier Team. The positive spirit surrounds us daily. We also continue to use the Writings of St. John Baptist de La Salle to inspire us on a daily basis. We are so blessed to be able to walk in the footsteps of our founder and continue sharing his Lasallian mission as educators.
“Do you have a faith that is such that it is able to touch the hearts of your students and inspire them with the Christian spirit? This is the greatest miracle you could perform and the one that God asks of you, for this is the purpose of your work.” (Meditation No.139.3)
We have some positive changes for this semester. First, we are thrilled to welcome back Mr. Joel Kelly and Mr. Ric Neidhardt to our Science department and to Mr. Sean Stair to our History department. Another change is that we are currently in the process of updating our De La Salle website and the plan is to stay current with information in order to keep the lines of communication open.
Monthly, we have our Principal’s WOW assembly and we often go overtime trying to share all the positive news. These WOW power-points have been posted monthly on the Edline page. For those who have not activated your Edline account or have not registered your e-mail on Edline, you are missing out on many messages and you are highly encouraged to activate your Edline account. Once you have registered your e-mail, please confirm your e-mail address when the message is sent to you. An accurate monthly calendar is also posted monthly on Edline. Remember that Edline is your best connection to your child’s teachers and accounts are updated on a weekly basis.
I have attached our WOW sheet which summarizes just some of the accomplishments over this past semester. Please continue to share any positive news about your Cavalier that we can add to our monthly assembly.
As we approach the time when we start accepting students for next year, please continue to help us recruit future Cavaliers by word of mouth. It is about time that this well-kept secret on the Avenue is shared. It truly is a special school and it is a blessing to work here on a daily basis. Thanks for entrusting your son(s)/daughter(s) to our care. May 2012 be filled with many blessings for all of us!
